Today, representatives from Ashoka visited AlManarah at its offices in Nazareth. Director Abbass Abbass met with Israel Director Eitan Perry, and Ashoka's Vice President of Global Marketing, Beverly Schwartz, to discuss AlManarah's ongoing advocacy and outreach efforts.
Ashoka is the largest network of social entrepreneurs worldwide, with nearly 3,000 Fellows in 70 countries, and provides a mechanism for individuals to implement system changing ideas into practice on a global scale. In 2009, Abbass was selected as Israel’s first Ashoka Fellow from the Arab society.
At the visit, Ashoka and the AlManarah team discussed the organization’s social and legal initiatives, drawing special attention to the Library project and the crowdfunding campaign currently underway to raise funds for AlManarah's International Library for the Print-Disabled. Perry and Schwartz helped AlManarah strategize about ways to increase their social impact, and shared their suggestions regarding the organization’s international outreach and advocacy efforts.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Abbass, Perry, and Schwartz posed for photos, and AlManarah was presented with a signed copy of Schwartz’s new book with Ashoka Founder Bill Drayton, Rippling: How Social Entrepreneurs Spread Innovation.
